On the concert platform, Adriana has performed numerous recitals in Romania, France, Italy and the UK. She performed in venues such as St. Martin-in-the-Fields, King’s Place, St James Piccadilly, Wilton’s Hall, Doxford and Eshott Hall, the Gloucester Cathedral, The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester and Cite de la Musique in Paris. Her song cycle performances include Mahler’s Lieder eines Fahrenden Gesellen, and Kindertotenlieder (with the Corinthian Chamber Orchestra) Respighi’s Il Tramonto, Enescu’s Sept chansons de Clement Marot, Dvorak’s Ciganske melodie and Korngold op. 38.


In 2010 Adriana co-founded Opera Prelude, a charity that delivers lecture-recitals and masterclasses at the Cadogan Hall and throughout the UK; she regularly delivers education and outreach work with companies including Garsington Opera and Grange Park Opera. Adriana recently completed her PhD, Exploring Zwischenfach: Understanding vocal classification and its professional significance, at the Royal Academy of Music. Prior to this she gained a Masters with Distinction at Royal Academy Opera where she studied with Lillian Watson and Audrey Hyland. She has taken part in Masterclasses with Ileana Cotrubas, Ann Murray, Yvonne Kenny, Della Jones, John Fisher, José Cura and Barbara Bonney. In 2008 she was invited to participate in the Georg Solti Academy, where she studied with Dame Kiri te Kanawa and Frederica von Stade. Adriana is grateful for the support she received during her studies from the Lucille Graham Award, the Patricia Kriss Wolf Prize, the Josephine Baker Trust , Opera Prelude, the AHRC and the International Opera Awards.

Mezzo-soprano Adriana Festeu is a bursary recipient from The International Opera Awards and the winner of the Czech Song Prize in the Emmy Destinn Competition. Adriana’s most recent roles include Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Charlotte in Werther for the Romanian National Opera in Cluj as well as that of Komponist Ariadne auf Naxos for New Palace Opera, at St. John’s Waterloo in London. Adriana also recorded Romanian art songs for the BBC Radio 3 dramatisation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. She was subsequently invited back to record Greek songs for The Oresteia: The Libation bearers.


Adriana made her operatic debut for the Romanian National Opera in Cluj in 2005 as Fidalma Il matrimonio segretto (Cimarosa), and her next roles were Marcellina Le nozze di Figaro, Madame Nolan The Medium and Zerlina Don Giovanni. Her UK debut was in 2008 when she sang Candida  Emilia di Liverpool (Donizetti) for the European Opera Centre,  on a tour which took her to St. George’s Hall in Liverpool and Bremen.


Other operatic roles have included Cenerentola, Calbo Maometto secondo, Megacle L’Olimpiade, Rustena La verita in cimento (all Garsington Opera cover); Marianna Il Signor Bruschino, Lucilla La Scala di Seta (British Youth Opera); Isolier Le comte Ory (Opera South); Giovanna,Page Rigoletto and Xerxes (cover)( Longborough Festival Opera ); Endimione La Calisto, Komponist Ariadne auf Naxos (Royal Academy Opera), as well as Priestess King Arthur and Juno The Judgement of Paris (New London Consort). Other roles include the title role in Carmen as well as Rosina Il Barbiere di Siviglia Sorceress Dido and Aeneas,  Suzuki Madam Butterfly and Lola Cavalleria Rusticana.
